An overland kit for a Toyota 4Runner starts as a quote.
A Toyota 4Runner can be entered in the builder and drawn as an SUV. A 4Runner has a roof, not a pickup bed, so the Tacoma bed-rack lines in our kits do not carry over. A roof platform is quoted separately. We refund in full if it does not fit.
What we can say today
Choose the SUV silhouette. Generations differ, and a 2025-and-later truck is not the same roof as a 2010–2024 truck. Factory rails, a naked roof, and a sunroof each change what a platform can use.
Why this is a fit check
An SUV roof system, such as the Rhino-Rack Pioneer-and-Backbone reference we have priced only as a candidate, is not inside the $6,695, $8,495, or $12,695 kit prices. Those prices assume a pickup bed rack. Weekend Camp, Trail Comfort, and Extended Camp are approved prices ($6,695, $8,495, and $12,695) for those parts lists. Only a 2024–2026 Tacoma with a 5-foot open bed and Weekend Camp is load-checked today. Any other vehicle can still be paid for, and we refund in full if it does not fit. Installation is coming soon — BAR registration pending — and is not for sale.
| Question | Honest answer |
|---|---|
| Body style we draw | SUV |
| Load-checked for checkout? | Only a 2024–2026 Tacoma, 5-foot bed, no cover, Weekend Camp. Other vehicles can be paid with a full refund if they do not fit. |
| Does a Tacoma rack citation transfer? | No. The reference racks are pickup bed bars. A 4Runner needs a roof system of its own. |
| Can the approved price be charged? | Yes, when the parts match a reference kit. We refund in full if it does not fit. This page is not a load check. |
What to measure
- Roof type: bare, fixed points, rails, or a panoramic panel.
- The owner’s manual roof limit, dynamic and static if both are published.
- Crossbar spread the tent maker actually allows.
- Door, antenna, and hatch clearance with the tent closed.

Questions
Is a 4Runner a pickup in the builder?
No. Draw it as an SUV. The picture is still representative, not a scan of your roof.
Is the Rhino-Rack reference included in the kit price?
No. It is a candidate SUV system with its own observed MSRP. It is quoted separately.
